Senior Accountant - public practice exp greatly appreciated

 Are you ready to make this your last tax season with public practice? If you are, this position can leverage your experience from public practice to be utilized in an industry setting!   Our client is a fast-paced, busy company in downtown Vancouver. They are in need of a detail-oriented, deadlines-driven CA, CPA, or CGA for this position . Ideal candidate will be someone who is designated with public practice experience or someone with real estate investment and real estate lending accounting experience. Duties will involved but not limited to:     Internal reporting and tasks: -Prepare monthly financial statements and working papers -Prepare operational budgets, forecasts and cash flows -Close monthly on funds from investor subscriptions -Create and maintain a shareholder registry database for new, retracted, transferred shareholders, Trustee information, including detailed contact and distribution information for purposes of monitoring shareholders and calculating monthly interest calculations -Prepare and distribute to investors quarterly interest -Prepare monthly calculations for Net Asset Value, Net Asset Value per share, Dividend Per Share and post to website -Create and maintain database for mortgages, including borrower, security, insurance, advance and paydown information and detailed contact and distribution information for purposes of monitoring the mortgage portfolio and calculating monthly borrower interest calculations -Prepare and run monthly borrower interest calculations, administer the collection of monthly interest, distribute interest to co-lenders -Prepare weekly mortgage portfolio cash flow projections   External reporting and tasks -Report and file appropriate regulatory filings -Distribute quarterly investor distributions -Advance and receive funds to and from borrowers -Prepare and post to website monthly mortgage portfolio updates -Assist in preparing marketing materials -Prepare audit binders for annual financial statements   Communication -Liaison with management -Liaison with investors and deferred pension plan Trustees -Liaison with borrowers, legal counsel and quantitative surveyors -Liaison with external auditors, bankers and insurance brokers   Taxation and other filings -Prepare various tax filings -GST -T2 -T5 -Installments -Prepare and file WCB and Worksafe BC   Other responsibilities Review/prepare bank reconciliations, accounts payable, account transfers, wire transfers. Other duties/projects/administrative tasks that may be assigned, from time to time.   Qualifications and Experience   -Professional accounting designation (CA, CGA, CMA) -3-5 years of experience and knowledge of real estate accounting -Financial analysis and budgeting -Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, both verbal and written -Proficient with MS Excel, Simply accounting, MS Word -Good problem solving skills -Ability to meet deadlines -Ability to learn quickly, adapt to change, multi-task with an attention to accuracy and detail hands-on approach for accounting, auditing and administrative tasks
