Located in the BC Interior, the Metallurgist is responsible for applying metallurgical knowledge for troubleshooting daily process issues in either the mill or Electrowinning circuit

Duties and Responsibilities

• Continuously monitors metallurgical efficiency of the crushing, grinding, copper and moly flotation circuit, and SXEW circuit
• Reports and achieves each shift’s metallurgical and production targets
• Applies metallurgical expertise for achieving daily KPI’s
• Provides operational guidelines and other technical information to operating personnel
• Maintains and troubleshoots analysis equipment and controls and investigates process problems and develops solutions
• Implements assigned metallurgical projects, writes and submits daily metallurgical records
• Ensures concentrate and cathode produced is tracked and shipped to designated destination and meets sales contract specifications
• Provides carriers with concentrate forecasts and manages the truck, rail and marine vessel logistics of concentrate shipments and ensures each service provider meets contractual obligations and statutory requirements
• Coordinates repairs, maintenance and periodic cleanout of concentrate shed, maintains shipment records and arranges for payment of rail carrier invoices
• Maintains effective information exchange with operations department to resolve common issues or problem

Qualifications

• Degree in Metallurgical or Chemical engineering with experience in base metals recovery processes
• Registered professional engineer or eligible to become registered
• Ability to function as a team player in achieving common objectives 
• Strong computer skills with knowledge of MS office
• Accomplished written, verbal and group presentation skills are essential
